Our Services
Rooted Pathways provides independent educational assessments and consultation services designed to help families make informed decisions about their child's learning. Each service combines professional expertise with an individualized approach, recognizing that families bring valuable knowledge and perspectives to the process.
Level B Academic Achievement Assessments
Understanding Academic Strengths and Learning Needs
Rooted Pathways offers formal, standardized academic assessments using the Woodcock-Johnson V Tests of Achievement. These assessments examine literacy and numeracy skills, including reading, writing, and mathematics, to provide an objective picture of a child's current academic development.
Results are analyzed to identify areas of strength, specific learning gaps, and patterns that may help explain academic challenges. Families receive a comprehensive written report with an interpretation of results and individualized educational recommendations.
The goal is to provide meaningful information that families can use when considering instructional approaches, targeted interventions, or future educational planning.
What to Expect
Initial Consultation: We begin by discussing your child's educational history, learning experiences, and the questions you would like the assessment to address.
Individual Assessment: Your child participates in one-on-one standardized testing, with the selection of tests guided by their age and the purpose of the assessment.
Written Report: Results are analyzed and presented in a professional report that explains your child's academic profile and provides practical recommendations.
Review and Next Steps: Families have an opportunity to discuss the findings, ask questions, and consider how the recommendations may inform their educational decisions.
The assessment process is intended to be informative and supportive, with consideration given to each child's learning experiences, comfort, and individual needs.
Educational File Reviews
Comprehensive Record Review & Follow-Up
Educational records often contain valuable information about a child's learning, but interpreting multiple reports, assessment results, and recommendations can be challenging.
An Educational File Review brings together existing documentation, including psychological assessments, academic reports, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and other educational records, to develop a clearer understanding of the child's documented learning profile.
The review focuses on identifying relevant findings, recognizing patterns across reports, and connecting previous recommendations to practical educational considerations. It may also help families recognize areas where further clarification or additional information would be beneficial.
What to Expect
Document Collection: Families provide relevant educational records and identify the questions or concerns they would like addressed.
Independent Review: Documentation is examined to identify key findings, educational priorities, and recommendations that may inform future planning.
Written Summary: A report is prepared to explain the findings in accessible language and outline practical educational considerations.
Follow-Up Meeting: We meet to review the information, discuss questions, and explore how the findings may be useful moving forward.
The follow-up meeting is an important part of this service. It provides an opportunity to connect the information in the reports with the family's experiences and current educational priorities.
Educational & Family Consulting
Individualized Educational Guidance
Educational and Family Consulting provides individualized support for families navigating questions about their child's learning, educational options, and available resources.
Consultations may focus on understanding particular learning needs, exploring instructional strategies, navigating IEPs and educational recommendations, considering alternative educational approaches, or identifying appropriate resources and supports.
Unlike formal assessment services, consultations are flexible and guided by the family's immediate priorities. They provide an opportunity to explore educational concerns and consider practical solutions without necessarily requiring additional testing.
What to Expect
Initial Discussion: We begin by identifying your family's questions, priorities, and educational goals.
Collaborative Consultation: Together, we explore relevant information, discuss possible approaches, and consider strategies appropriate to your child's learning needs.
Practical Planning: We identify realistic next steps, useful resources, and strategies that families can consider implementing within their educational setting.
Ongoing Support: Additional consultations can be arranged as needed to revisit priorities, discuss progress, or explore new questions.
Consultations are intended to be collaborative and responsive, with recommendations that respect each family's educational philosophy and circumstances. In some cases, this may continue as an ongoing service after file reviews or assessments are completed.
